Love of God

It has been a long two weeks. The hubby is in California and the kids and I miss him terribly. I love my husband more and more everyday. Last night the Lord reminded me that His love is greater than the love I have for my husband and my family!  The whole concept of being loved with an EVERLASTING love is one that reaches far beyond my comprehension.

"I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving-kindness"

 Jeremiah 31:3

Everlasting?? I just can't imagine being loved that way and for that long? You know, we are so quick to be unloving to each other because our love often comes with conditions, but His love is not limited by the boundaries of human love, it is exempt from conditions and loves unconditionally. I am thankful that even when I fail God He keeps on loving me. There is no way that my love can compare with the love of God. One of my favorite hymns we used to sing when I was little was about the love of God.

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin. 

Oh, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure

the saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,

And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

To write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry!  The words to this song are amazing. The Love of God is rich and pure, is measureless and strong and it shall endure forever and ever! The Love of God is a place where we can all find love and acceptance, it is a place where we can come and hide away from all those things that overwhelm our hearts. God's word tells us that He first loved us; He has drawn us with His everlasting kindness!  God reached down to me and first loved me - that my friend is AWESOME!  His love is eternal!
